What it is

From here, Mumbai's main attractions — including central Bandra West — are an easy walk or short ride away, so you spend less time in transit and more time exploring.

Rates shift with the season and with demand, so the live price on the booking page is always the one to trust — tap through for tonight's or your dates' real availability.

Where it sits

Hotel Hometown Near BKC is in Bandra West, at 57 New Naik Nagar L.B.S. Marg Near, Mumbai. Straight-line, that is about 4 km from Terminal 2, 13 km from CSMT and the Fort offices, and 2 km from the Bandra Kurla Complex.

Road times in Mumbai are not a function of distance. Modelled at the city-wide average of about 17 km/h, that is roughly 15 minutes to the airport, 46 minutes to Fort and 6 minutes to BKC — add half again in the evening peak, and take the train instead wherever the route allows. These are modelled figures, not measured ones.

Staying in Bandra West

Pali Naka and the lanes behind it — Pali Mala Road, Union Park, Chapel Road — are the sweet spot: quiet, leafy, five minutes from Carter Road and ten from the restaurants, ₹9,000 to ₹16,000 for a good boutique double. Bandstand gets you sea-facing rooms at ₹15,000 to ₹28,000 and the shortest run to the Sea Link, which matters if your meetings are in Worli or Nariman Point. Turner Road and Hill Road are cheaper at ₹6,500 to ₹9,000 but noisy, with hawkers on the pavement until ten. Avoid anything on the S V Road side or immediately around Bandra station: that stretch is a permanent traffic knot, the guesthouses there are much older than their photographs, and the rickshaw stand outside the station runs a fare-refusal racket at night. Book at least three weeks ahead for any November-to-February date; Bandra sells out early.

More on the neighbourhood, including how to move around it and what is worth walking to, is on the Bandra West page.

What it costs

We do not hold a live rate for Hotel Hometown Near BKC at the moment; hotels in Bandra West on our list start at about ₹4,800 a night. Check the live price before you plan around a number — Mumbai rates move with the trade-fair and wedding calendars, and a room can double in the week of a large event.

November to February is the expensive season and the comfortable one. June to September — the monsoon — is the cheapest, and the rain is less of an obstacle than people expect if you plan around the mornings.

This 3-Star, hotel deserves a trophy for the worst kind of service. The rooms smell like something has died inside. Eveytime you enter it's entering a moruge. The sheets were still the same from the last time. The service was pathetic, the staff had an altogether different attitude to different people. Giving no shit…

We got a room for 2500 rupees which had a letbath attached. We got two beds on which 3-4 people can sleep. The rooms are okay but there is a musty smell which reduces when the air conditioner is switched on. There is a facility of hot water in the bathroom. Do not take a room on the ground floor as water drips on the…

Hotel Hometown is a good place to stay and is budget friendly, but the services there are not that satisfactory. Also, it is far from the nearest station and bus route.
