What it is
Guests typically choose Marine Drive for its balance of location and price; New Metro Guest House is a good fit if you want to be near the action in Mumbai.
Where it sits
New Metro Guest House is in Marine Drive, at No. 78 80 1St Marine Cross Lane Trinity Street Near Metro Cinema 400002 Mumbai India, Mumbai. Straight-line, that is about 17 km from Terminal 2, 1 km from CSMT and the Fort offices, and 14 km from the Bandra Kurla Complex.
Road times in Mumbai are not a function of distance. Modelled at the city-wide average of about 17 km/h, that is roughly 59 minutes to the airport, 5 minutes to Fort and 50 minutes to BKC — add half again in the evening peak, and take the train instead wherever the route allows. These are modelled figures, not measured ones.

Staying in Marine Drive
There are only two real decisions here: sea-facing or not, and which end. Nariman Point at the southern tip is the business end — the big five-star towers, room rates ₹18,000 to ₹35,000 sea-facing and ₹12,000 to ₹18,000 city-facing, and a 10-minute walk to the office blocks. The middle stretch around Soona Mahal and the Churchgate junction has mid-size hotels and a few serviced apartments at ₹9,000 to ₹15,000, closest to trains and cheap food. The Chowpatty end is cheaper, ₹6,000 to ₹10,000, but noisier and further from everything corporate. Do not book a city-facing room at a sea-view price; ask for the room number and check the orientation. Avoid low floors anywhere on the strip — the traffic on NSC Bose Road runs all night and the honking is unfiltered below the fourth storey. Monsoon rates from mid-June to mid-September are the best value in south Mumbai if rain does not bother you.
More on the neighbourhood, including how to move around it and what is worth walking to, is on the Marine Drive page.
What it costs
We do not hold a live rate for New Metro Guest House at the moment. Check the live price before you plan around a number — Mumbai rates move with the trade-fair and wedding calendars, and a room can double in the week of a large event.
November to February is the expensive season and the comfortable one. June to September — the monsoon — is the cheapest, and the rain is less of an obstacle than people expect if you plan around the mornings.
