What it is
From here, Mumbai's main attractions — including central Malabar Hill — are an easy walk or short ride away, so you spend less time in transit and more time exploring.

Where it sits
Kemps Corner is in Malabar Hill, at August Kranti Margi Kemps Corner Peddar Rd Flyo 131, Mumbai. Straight-line, that is about 15 km from Terminal 2, 4 km from CSMT and the Fort offices, and 13 km from the Bandra Kurla Complex.
Road times in Mumbai are not a function of distance. Modelled at the city-wide average of about 17 km/h, that is roughly 54 minutes to the airport, 14 minutes to Fort and 46 minutes to BKC — add half again in the evening peak, and take the train instead wherever the route allows. These are modelled figures, not measured ones.

Staying in Malabar Hill
Expect serviced apartments rather than hotels. The cluster to look at is Napean Sea Road and the lanes off Bhulabhai Desai Road at the southern shoulder of the hill, where furnished one and two-bedroom apartments run ₹9,000 to ₹18,000 a night, or roughly ₹1,50,000 to ₹3,00,000 a month for a proper let, and the few small hotels sit at ₹8,000 to ₹14,000. Ridge Road itself has almost nothing commercial — if a listing claims a Ridge Road hotel, check whether it is actually a homestay in a co-operative building, which can mean visitor restrictions and no reception after 10pm. Sea-facing on the western side gets the sunset and the monsoon wind; the eastern side over Girgaon gets the city lights. Avoid the immediate Teen Batti hairpin for road noise, and be realistic that groceries and dinner both mean a walk downhill and a taxi back up.
More on the neighbourhood, including how to move around it and what is worth walking to, is on the Malabar Hill page.
What it costs
The most recent snapshot we hold for Kemps Corner starts at about ₹7,500 a night, against a median of about ₹7,500 for the Malabar Hill hotels on our list. That is a snapshot, not a quote: Mumbai rates move with the trade-fair and wedding calendars, and the same room can double in the week of a large event.
November to February is the expensive season and the comfortable one. June to September — the monsoon — is the cheapest, and the rain is less of an obstacle than people expect if you plan around the mornings.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had an overall disappointing experience with the senior staff. While this is not my first time staying here and was actually quite impressed the last time. While the property and some of the support staff were good, the behavior and attitude of the main reception staff left a lot…Ashmita Shetty · 1/5
A solid 8/10. Well-maintained, with cosy rooms and a good breakfast. The staff are attentive and helpful. My room felt a bit small, but still comfortable. The one big downside visitors aren’t allowed unless you pay an extra ₹1400 for 24 hours, even for family or friends. This wasn’t clearly mentioned during booking.…idriss mahomedally · 3/5
This hotel is full of wonderful and kind people. I like that it is quaint and service oriented. It is very clean and they provide a nice selection of dishes. Their morning breakfast buffet is top notch and filling. They make the best popped corn! Everyone was superb but I must say this: Rakesh took me under his wing…Lin W · 5/5
