What it is

From here, Mumbai's main attractions — including central Khar — are an easy walk or short ride away, so you spend less time in transit and more time exploring.

Rates shift with the season and with demand, so the live price on the booking page is always the one to trust — tap through for tonight's or your dates' real availability.

Where it sits

Sutra d'Onyx is in Khar, at Bajaj Onyx 36 37 Union Park Khar Op, Mumbai. Straight-line, that is about 4 km from Terminal 2, 15 km from CSMT and the Fort offices, and 3 km from the Bandra Kurla Complex.

Road times in Mumbai are not a function of distance. Modelled at the city-wide average of about 17 km/h, that is roughly 13 minutes to the airport, 51 minutes to Fort and 12 minutes to BKC — add half again in the evening peak, and take the train instead wherever the route allows. These are modelled figures, not measured ones.

What is included

The property lists 12 facilities. The ones that decide a booking are grouped below; anything unusual — early check-in, a late departure, a desk that takes a laptop — is worth confirming when you book, because listings and reality drift.

Staying in Khar

The numbered roads between Linking Road and the sea — particularly 15th, 16th and the lanes towards Khar Danda — are the quietest and best value, with serviced apartments and small boutique hotels at ₹6,500 to ₹11,000 including breakfast. The Linking Road frontage itself is cheaper at ₹5,000 to ₹7,500 but you will hear traffic and shop shutters until midnight. The S V Road side, closer to Khar Road station, drops to ₹3,500 to ₹5,000; it is functional, well connected for trains, and thoroughly charmless. Serviced apartments are unusually good value here for stays of a week or more — expect ₹45,000 to ₹80,000 a month for a well-kept one-bedroom with a kitchen, which suits the longer project trip better than a hotel does. Avoid ground-floor rooms anywhere near the Khar subway between June and September for obvious reasons.

More on the neighbourhood, including how to move around it and what is worth walking to, is on the Khar page.

What it costs

We do not hold a live rate for Sutra d'Onyx at the moment; hotels in Khar on our list start at about ₹8,800 a night. Check the live price before you plan around a number — Mumbai rates move with the trade-fair and wedding calendars, and a room can double in the week of a large event.

November to February is the expensive season and the comfortable one. June to September — the monsoon — is the cheapest, and the rain is less of an obstacle than people expect if you plan around the mornings.

I recently stayed at Le Sutra Hotel in Khar, Mumbai, and honestly, it was one of the most unique and memorable hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place wasn’t your typical hotel. The artwork and themes in every corner are absolutely stunning. Each floor and room is…

Spa is disappointing! First, they have a strange system where the therapist takes oil from a PUMP bottle. So each time you drift into relaxation, she has to stop, pump 3-4 times & come back with oil! No continuity of massage, so how does one relax??! Second, I was informed that the lights would go off in the bathroom…

I had to cut a reservation short. This place was shockingly not what they claimed. They said they were lgbt-friendly. They were not. As soon as potential visitors came about it was a hard no. The front desk said it was policy even though nothing s posted and they did not explain it upon check in. They also claim they…
