What it is
The surrounding Kala Ghoda district is one of the most convenient parts of Mumbai to stay in, with restaurants, cafés and transport links close by.
Rates shift with the season and with demand, so the live price on the booking page is always the one to trust — tap through for tonight's or your dates' real availability.
Where it sits
Hotel Suba Palace is in Kala Ghoda, at Apollo Bunder Near Gateway Of India, Mumbai. Straight-line, that is about 19 km from Terminal 2, 2 km from CSMT and the Fort offices, and 16 km from the Bandra Kurla Complex.
Road times in Mumbai are not a function of distance. Modelled at the city-wide average of about 17 km/h, that is roughly 66 minutes to the airport, 6 minutes to Fort and 57 minutes to BKC — add half again in the evening peak, and take the train instead wherever the route allows. These are modelled figures, not measured ones.

Staying in Kala Ghoda
Actual Kala Ghoda addresses are few — a handful of boutique properties and heritage apartments on and around V B Gandhi Marg and Ropewalk Lane at ₹9,000 to ₹18,000 a night, and they book out early for the February festival. The sane approach is to sleep on the fringe and walk: Fort hotels along Dr D N Road and Bombay Samachar Marg at ₹4,500 to ₹9,000 are eight minutes away, and Colaba's mid-range blocks on Mandlik Road are twelve. If you want to be inside the quarter, ask for a room off the street side — M G Road carries taxi traffic and horns until midnight, and the lanes behind Jehangir get delivery vans from 6am. Avoid anything marketed as an art-district homestay without confirming the floor and the lift, because these are 1900s buildings and a fourth-floor walk-up with a suitcase is a real event.
More on the neighbourhood, including how to move around it and what is worth walking to, is on the Kala Ghoda page.
What it costs
We do not hold a live rate for Hotel Suba Palace at the moment; hotels in Kala Ghoda on our list start at about ₹5,900 a night. Check the live price before you plan around a number — Mumbai rates move with the trade-fair and wedding calendars, and a room can double in the week of a large event.
November to February is the expensive season and the comfortable one. June to September — the monsoon — is the cheapest, and the rain is less of an obstacle than people expect if you plan around the mornings.

The location is great and close by to all the attractions. The rooms are filthy, bathroom is gross and the pillows and blankets are dirty and have stains on them. Some windows and doors don’t close properly and are quite stiff. The hygiene here is so poor we had to get dettol wipes and clean most of the room. It is…Aliyya Darji · 3/5
Visit the terrace garden only for location. Service is vey poor as staff are not interested nor inclined to serve or take orders or offer a table. Menu is limited and very average. A bowl of frech fries , one chilli chicken dry ,a mocktail and a beer will set you back by 2000 bucks ,but you are only paying this for…Minoo Mehta · 2/5
I booked a double bed room, upon arrival I got the a room within the hotel that didn’t seem to belong to the same hotel if that makes sense, next to a dusty storage room, it was dirty, there was two single “beds” they looked more like pieces of foam cover in sheets, horrible, looked almost like joke. I asked for…Viviana Sanchez · 1/5
