What it is
The surrounding Kala Ghoda district is one of the most convenient parts of Mumbai to stay in, with restaurants, cafés and transport links close by.
Because pricing is set live by the hotel and its suppliers, the figure shown here is a recent snapshot; check the current rate for your exact dates before booking.
Where it sits
Gulf Hotel is in Kala Ghoda, at Bhaskarrao Kargutkar Rd Apollo Bandar Colaba Mumbai Maharashtra 400005 India Mumbai, Mumbai. Straight-line, that is about 19 km from Terminal 2, 2 km from CSMT and the Fort offices, and 17 km from the Bandra Kurla Complex.
Road times in Mumbai are not a function of distance. Modelled at the city-wide average of about 17 km/h, that is roughly 68 minutes to the airport, 8 minutes to Fort and 60 minutes to BKC — add half again in the evening peak, and take the train instead wherever the route allows. These are modelled figures, not measured ones.

Staying in Kala Ghoda
Actual Kala Ghoda addresses are few — a handful of boutique properties and heritage apartments on and around V B Gandhi Marg and Ropewalk Lane at ₹9,000 to ₹18,000 a night, and they book out early for the February festival. The sane approach is to sleep on the fringe and walk: Fort hotels along Dr D N Road and Bombay Samachar Marg at ₹4,500 to ₹9,000 are eight minutes away, and Colaba's mid-range blocks on Mandlik Road are twelve. If you want to be inside the quarter, ask for a room off the street side — M G Road carries taxi traffic and horns until midnight, and the lanes behind Jehangir get delivery vans from 6am. Avoid anything marketed as an art-district homestay without confirming the floor and the lift, because these are 1900s buildings and a fourth-floor walk-up with a suitcase is a real event.
More on the neighbourhood, including how to move around it and what is worth walking to, is on the Kala Ghoda page.
What it costs
We do not hold a live rate for Gulf Hotel at the moment; hotels in Kala Ghoda on our list start at about ₹5,900 a night. Check the live price before you plan around a number — Mumbai rates move with the trade-fair and wedding calendars, and a room can double in the week of a large event.
November to February is the expensive season and the comfortable one. June to September — the monsoon — is the cheapest, and the rain is less of an obstacle than people expect if you plan around the mornings.
