Planning a stay in Juhu

When to go

November to February is the comfortable window for Juhu specifically, since a beachfront address only pays off if the weather allows an evening walk on the sand or a meal on a terrace, and the humidity through March to May makes both less appealing. The monsoon, June to September, turns the beach itself unusable for long stretches and brings heavy surf close to the sea-facing hotels on Juhu Tara Road, so a booking here in those months should be judged on the meeting schedule alone rather than any expectation of using the beach or the sunset crowds it draws the rest of the year.

Rates on Juhu Tara Road move with the wedding season, November to February, when the beachfront hotels also host wedding functions alongside business guests, and can tighten further around any large trade fair at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, a reasonable drive north. A visitor who only needs a bed rather than the sea view can generally find steadier pricing on the second row around Gulmohar Road and Juhu Church Road, which draws less of the seasonal wedding demand than the beachfront strip itself and holds its rates more evenly through the year.

Getting there and around

Terminal 2 to Juhu is about 8 km, 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic, with taxis quoting roughly ₹450 to ₹700; Terminal 1 is closer at around 5 km and about ₹350. There is no railway station in Juhu itself — Vile Parle on the Western Line is about 3 km east, roughly ₹80 by auto, and from there Churchgate is about 35 minutes away for roughly ₹10 in second class. Anyone travelling by train should plan the auto leg to or from Vile Parle as part of the journey rather than assume a direct walk.

The nearest metro is Line 2A and Line 1 interchange at D N Nagar, roughly 3 km north, useful mainly for reaching Andheri and Ghatkopar without joining highway traffic. Inside Juhu, most of what matters is within walking distance along the beach and the bungalow lanes behind it, and autos at a flag-down rate of roughly ₹26 handle the rest, easiest to find at Juhu Circle. A visitor with meetings elsewhere in the city should budget more time for the road journey out than the beachfront setting might suggest, since Juhu sits off the main train and metro lines.

Where to stay in Juhu

Juhu Tara Road is the beachfront proper: full-service hotels at roughly ₹14,000 to ₹28,000 with pools, real meeting floors and shuttle services, and sea-facing rooms worth the roughly ₹3,000 premium for a short stay of only a night or two. This is the address for a visitor who wants the beach outside the door and does not mind paying for it, or whose meetings are genuinely served by the hotel's own conference space rather than an outside venue, and it is the only pocket of Juhu where that beachfront setting is part of what the nightly rate is actually buying rather than an incidental view from a distance.

The second row — Gulmohar Road, Juhu Church Road, Janki Kutir — offers boutique hotels and serviced flats at roughly ₹7,000 to ₹12,000 in quiet bungalow lanes, five minutes on foot from the sand and next to Prithvi Theatre, and is genuinely worth booking over the beachfront strip for most trips. The Juhu Circle end towards Vile Parle drops further to roughly ₹5,000 to ₹7,500 but sits on a permanently congested junction. Worth avoiding are the cheapest guesthouses immediately behind the beach on the Juhu Koliwada side, fine by day but poorly lit after dark.

What a room costs here

Our feed lists 144 hotels for Juhu, of which 8 currently carry a live rate, and the cheapest, Hotel Best, comes in at roughly ₹1,500 — a snapshot from our booking feed rather than a quote for a specific date, and well below the ₹5,000-plus typical of anywhere close to the beach itself, which suggests it sits away from the beachfront and second-row pockets described above. N.M. Hotel follows at roughly ₹2,100 and AR Residency at roughly ₹2,200, both similarly positioned at the budget end of what our feed currently prices for this neighbourhood.

None of the three named hotels on our feed reach the ₹7,000 to ₹12,000 second-row band or the ₹14,000 to ₹28,000 beachfront band described above, which is a reminder that a live rate on the cheaper end of the file does not represent the full range of what is bookable in Juhu; the better-known beachfront and second-row properties are priced through other channels and worth checking directly if a sea view or proximity to Prithvi Theatre matters more than the lowest available rate, particularly for a stay timed around the wedding season when demand for those specific addresses runs highest.

Questions travellers ask

Is it worth paying extra for a sea-facing room in Juhu?
For a short stay, generally yes. Sea-facing rooms on Juhu Tara Road carry roughly a ₹3,000 premium over the ₹14,000 to ₹28,000 beachfront band, and for a night or two the view is arguably the point of choosing Juhu over a business-district hotel elsewhere. For a longer stay, or if the beach itself is not a priority, the second row around Gulmohar Road and Juhu Church Road offers boutique hotels and serviced flats at roughly ₹7,000 to ₹12,000, five minutes' walk from the sand without the premium.
How do I get from the airport to Juhu, and how long does it take?
From Terminal 2 it is about 8 km, 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic, with taxis quoting roughly ₹450 to ₹700; Terminal 1 is closer at around 5 km and about ₹350. There is no direct train or metro into Juhu itself, so a taxi or app cab is the practical option for arrival with luggage. The nearest metro, Line 2A and Line 1 at D N Nagar, is roughly 3 km north and better suited to onward trips than the initial airport transfer.
Which part of Juhu should I avoid?
The cheapest guesthouses immediately behind the beach on the Juhu Koliwada side are pleasant enough by day but poorly lit after dark, according to the neighbourhood's own notes. The Juhu Circle end towards Vile Parle is cheaper again, roughly ₹5,000 to ₹7,500, but sits on a permanently congested junction that makes both walking and driving slower. The second row around Gulmohar Road and Juhu Church Road avoids both issues at a broadly similar or only slightly higher price.
What does a hotel room in Juhu actually cost, based on live rates?
Our feed currently prices 8 of the 144 hotels listed for Juhu. The cheapest, Hotel Best, comes in at roughly ₹1,500, a snapshot rather than a quote. N.M. Hotel and AR Residency follow at roughly ₹2,100 and ₹2,200. None of these three reach the ₹7,000-plus second-row or beachfront bands described in the neighbourhood's own copy, so treat the live-priced set as the budget floor rather than the full range available here.
Is Juhu well connected for someone with meetings elsewhere in the city?
Less well connected than most neighbourhoods in this file. There is no railway station in Juhu itself; Vile Parle on the Western Line is about 3 km east, roughly ₹80 by auto, and the nearest metro interchange at D N Nagar is a similar distance north. A visitor with a single meeting a day can manage this comfortably, but a schedule with several stops across the city should budget extra time for the road journey out of Juhu each time.
Does the monsoon make Juhu a poor choice for a stay?
It changes what the address is worth. Between June and September the beach itself is largely unusable and heavy surf sits close to the sea-facing hotels on Juhu Tara Road, so a booking made purely for the beachfront setting loses much of its appeal. A trip built around meetings rather than the beach can still work here in the monsoon; it is only the premium for a sea view that stops making sense in those months.
