What it is
The surrounding Girgaon district is one of the most convenient parts of Mumbai to stay in, with restaurants, cafés and transport links close by.
Rates shift with the season and with demand, so the live price on the booking page is always the one to trust — tap through for tonight's or your dates' real availability.
Where it sits
Hotel Royal Castle is in Girgaon, at 76 August Kranti Marg, Mumbai. Straight-line, that is about 15 km from Terminal 2, 4 km from CSMT and the Fort offices, and 13 km from the Bandra Kurla Complex.
Road times in Mumbai are not a function of distance. Modelled at the city-wide average of about 17 km/h, that is roughly 54 minutes to the airport, 13 minutes to Fort and 46 minutes to BKC — add half again in the evening peak, and take the train instead wherever the route allows. These are modelled figures, not measured ones.

Staying in Girgaon
Look at the streets between Charni Road station and Girgaon Chowpatty — Sandhurst Road, Jagannath Shankarsheth Marg, the blocks off Prarthana Samaj — where small business hotels and family-run lodges run ₹3,000 to ₹6,500 a night and a sea-view room at the Chowpatty end can be had for ₹7,000 to ₹9,000. Serviced apartments around Opera House are the smart long-stay option at roughly ₹65,000 to ₹1,10,000 a month. Standards are patchy: insist on seeing the room, check the water pressure and whether the air conditioning is a window unit, and confirm the lift exists. Avoid ground-floor rooms on the main roads, where traffic starts at 6am and Ganpati loudspeakers can run past midnight in season. Avoid the very cheapest lodges near the station touting hourly rates. Book anything for September and for Diwali week at least a month ahead.
More on the neighbourhood, including how to move around it and what is worth walking to, is on the Girgaon page.
What it costs
We do not hold a live rate for Hotel Royal Castle at the moment; hotels in Girgaon on our list start at about ₹6,800 a night. Check the live price before you plan around a number — Mumbai rates move with the trade-fair and wedding calendars, and a room can double in the week of a large event.
November to February is the expensive season and the comfortable one. June to September — the monsoon — is the cheapest, and the rain is less of an obstacle than people expect if you plan around the mornings.

Worst experience ever!! We had booked 2 rooms for 2-3 days..There were severe issues in the washroom and we had to repeatedly tell them to call a plumber..Had to leave the room so many times for that..The rooms are also very congested and smelly..The sheets weren't fresh at all..The receptionist was quite rude.Anwesha Rahude · 1/5
Management is good. Very cordial, warm. They did help out to ensure I don't unnecessarily pay more. So kudos on the ethics. They have done quite well in terms of room interiors considering the constraints of the locality. A little more room space would have been good to have.Arvind Bhat · 4/5
We visited the hotel last week. The entire staff was very rude & arrogant. There was no cutlery or crockery in the room. When we asked them for the same we were told that there is no restaurant, only a pantry. We were then provided with 1cup for 2 persons for tea, no spoon. When asked again for another set they were…Rajan Gehani · 1/5
