Ballard Estate is the quietest and most handsome pocket, wide streets, low traffic, hotels around ₹8,000 to ₹14,000, and a two-minute walk to shipping and freight offices. Prices spike 30 to 40 percent in December and during results season in late January. Avoid rooms facing D N Road above the second floor without double glazing, and avoid the immediate CSMT and Crawford Market fringe, where the noise, hawking and pavement traffic run past midnight. Confirm whether breakfast exists — many Fort hotels assume you will eat at an Irani cafe.
