Avoid rooms directly overlooking Tilak Bridge or the Senapati Bapat Marg station approach — the platform announcements start at 4.10am and there is no double glazing anywhere in this price band. Dadar East, behind the Central Railway side, is cheaper again at ₹2,200 upward but the lodges there are genuinely basic and many are cash-only. Always ask which floor, and always ask if the room faces the road.
