What it is

From here, Mumbai's main attractions — including Bassein and Kolaba Fort, Alibaug — are an easy walk or short ride away, so you spend less time in transit and more time exploring.

Rates shift with the season and with demand, so the live price on the booking page is always the one to trust — tap through for tonight's or your dates' real availability.

Where it sits

Hotel Al Fatah is in Alibaug, at Bharucha Mohammed Ali Road Chakala Market Mandvi, Mumbai. Straight-line, that is about 16 km from Terminal 2, 1 km from CSMT and the Fort offices, and 14 km from the Bandra Kurla Complex.

Road times in Mumbai are not a function of distance. Modelled at the city-wide average of about 17 km/h, that is roughly 57 minutes to the airport, 5 minutes to Fort and 48 minutes to BKC — add half again in the evening peak, and take the train instead wherever the route allows. These are modelled figures, not measured ones.

Staying in Alibaug

Three bands. Around Nagaon and Akshi, mid-range resorts and homestays run ₹4,500 to ₹8,000 a night in December, with beach access across the road rather than in front of you. Kihim and Awas, closer to Mandwa jetty and therefore the shortest transfer, hold the boutique villas and small luxury properties — ₹15,000 to ₹45,000 a night, whole-house bookings common, and the ones worth paying for have staff cooks and functioning generators. Alibaug town itself is cheap, ₹2,000 to ₹3,500, but you are in a market town with a beach five minutes away and mosquitoes. Avoid anything advertising itself as a beachfront resort on Alibaug main beach — the sand there is grey silt, the water shallow and murky, and the beach doubles as a road for horse carts. Also avoid the roadside places on the Alibaug–Revdanda stretch during weekends: tour groups, loudspeakers, no quiet.

More on the neighbourhood, including how to move around it and what is worth walking to, is on the Alibaug page.

What it costs

We do not hold a live rate for Hotel Al Fatah at the moment. Check the live price before you plan around a number — Mumbai rates move with the trade-fair and wedding calendars, and a room can double in the week of a large event.

November to February is the expensive season and the comfortable one. June to September — the monsoon — is the cheapest, and the rain is less of an obstacle than people expect if you plan around the mornings.

The hotel stay was highly disappointing due to subpar service and lack of basic amenities. The staff was rude and unprofessional. There were no towels or soap provided, and the air conditioning emitted a foul odor. To make matters worse, the tap water was extremely dirty, foul-smelling, and unusable, making the…

The rooms are small and compact but Clean. Value for money rooms. Hot water available. Modern compavt designed rooms. Limited availability. ... It's on the first floor, no lift no wheelchair accessibility... the hotel is on main road, close to the market. Lots of eat outs around. The water flow is poor and it's ok…
